The family of the viral BBC live broadcast mishap shares an update after 7 years.
Robert Kelly, a professor of political diplomacy at Pusan National University, is known for his viral BBC interview moment in 2017 when his children crashed the broadcast. He recently shared an update.
On March 10, Professor Kelly shared on his social media that the “viral video is now seven years old,” along with photos showing how much his children have grown since then.
Professor Kelly’s daughter Yena has grown to his shoulder height, and his son Yuseop, who used to ride a baby walker, has grown into a playful elementary school student.
In March 2017, Professor Kelly was interviewed online at his home about the political situation in Korea following the impeachment of President Park Geun Hye with BBC London.
During the interview, his five-year-old daughter Yena barged into the room, dancing with a bright face, followed by his eight-month-old son Yuseop, who rode in with his baby walker and surprised his dad.
His wife later slid in and removed the children as fast as possible. The scene was broadcast live and went viral, recording 84 million views on the BBC Facebook page alone.
The BBC reported, “The combination of a very cute child, a baby in a walker, and a speedy mom behind the scenes during the serious interview is the funniest thing on the internet.”
The Kelly family has also been featured on popular American talk shows such as The Ellen Degeneres Show and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
