The prosecution has demanded jail time for high school students who confined and sexually assaulted a female peer.

On April 24, the 12th Criminal Department of Daejeon District Court (Chief Judge Kim Byung Man) held a sentencing hearing for four individuals, including Mr. A (18), who was charged with joint assault, joint confinement, rape, and other injuries.

The prosecution, citing the severity of the crimes, demanded a long-term imprisonment of 12 years and a short-term imprisonment of 7 years for Mr. A.

In addition, they demanded long-term imprisonment of 10 years and short-term imprisonment of 7 years for Mr. B (19) and the other two individuals.

Mr. A and his group of high school students are accused of confining and sexually assaulting Ms. C at a motel in Jung-gu, Daejeon, in the early morning of October 14 last year.

After the sexual assault, they reportedly filmed Ms. C, who was naked, and even assaulted her, saying, “We’ll make sure you can’t get pregnant.”

People were shocked to hear that the students had live broadcasted the sexual assault during a video call with an acquaintance.

Her health had deteriorated after the incident, eventually leading her to the hospital. The case was reported to the police by medical staff, who detected something was wrong.

The defense attorneys pleaded for leniency, arguing that “the defendants are in custody and have had unfortunate experiences in their youth.”

Meanwhile, the court plans to continue sentencing for them on May 10.
