According to a recent report by HK01, a Taiwanese woman has been suffering from recurring anal abscesses, causing her to visit the hospital every two to three months. After examining her medical history, her doctor pointed out a potentially problematic lifestyle habit. Surgeon Chen Rongjian appeared on a program called Doctors Are Hot to explain the condition of his 20-year-old female patient who was being treated for an anal abscess.

At the time, the doctors were surprised as most anal abscess patients were male.

Dr. Chen reported that the female patient recovered after treatment but returned with the same problem two to three months later. This pattern repeated three times.

After the continuous recurrences, the doctor suspected something was wrong and asked the woman about her habits.

The woman said, “Whenever I feel that my anus is not clean, I rush to the bathroom and wipe it with scented wet wipes.”

Upon hearing this, the doctor explained that if the wound was already small, using scented wipes could easily lead to re-infection by continually irritating it.

Dr. Chen advised, “Don’t irritate the area too frequently. Avoid using wipes to prevent irritation from chemicals.”

He recommended that the best method is to rinse with water after using the toilet and to pat dry to prevent skin injuries.
